I supposed it was bound to happen with a 40 million opening weekend. News has hit the web that Platinum Dunes is readying a sequel to the remake of Friday the 13th. Word is that from here on out they will be following completely original storylines for the franchise and not following in the footsteps of previous F13 sequels, damn...no Jason in Space Pt.2. Also completely original will be the cast and crew as those characters who made it through the last one, as well as director Marcus Nispel are not slated to return. While I knew it was coming after that record setting opening weekend, I can't really say I'm lamenting this fact. I thought the remake did a good job of telling the old story with a few good new twists and as long as there are no trips to Manhattan, telepaths, or space shuttles involved I would love to see some more hack and slash at ole' Camp Crystal Lake
