The race to put out the first big budget flick based on the Greek myths was obviously won by Clash of the Titans. That film dropped the ball, though, and now we look towards Tarsem's(The Fall, The Cell) Immortals to pick up the slack. Immortals tells the story of an impending war between the Greek gods and the Titans, the world's former rulers who are now rising up to reclaim what was once theirs. Humans and gods form a tenuous alliance to push back the oncoming Titan threat.
Those that don't know director Tarsem's work need only look back at 2006's The Fall to see that he is a revolutionary visual auteur. He also helmed the Jennifer Lopez thriller The Cell back in 2000, a film that is pretty much only noteworthy because of its trippy mindscapes. Based off of comments Tarsem has made, I expect Immortals to be no different. Rogue Pictures has released a few photos from the film already, and I'm already stoked. Check 'em out, followed by a few short words about the film...
Immortals stars Henry Cavill(The Tudors; Stephen Dorff(Blade); Frieda Pinto(Slumdog Millionaire); Mickey Rourke(The Wrestler); John Hurt(Hellboy), and Isabel Lucas(Daybreakers). It's set to hit theates on November 11, 2011.
