Quick Hits: Farrell Joins FRIGHT NIGHT; Goldman Rewriting X-MEN FIRST CLASS; JUDGE DREDD Comeback?

Quickly, because I'm off to go see Robin Hood in like ten minutes....

* Following on the heels of Anton Yelchin(Huff, Terminator Salvation) being named as the main character in Craig Gillespie's remake of 1985's Fright Night, comes the news that Colin Farrell has been signed as well. He'll take on the role made "famous" by Chris Sarandon, that of the vampire who has moved into a suburban neighborhood and begins doing what vamps tend to do. Good grab, Farrell's definitely got the shaggy vamp look down pat.

*This should come as no surprise since she's worked with director Matthew Vaughn on both Stardust and Kick-Ass, but Jane Goldman has been brought on to rewrite the script to X-men: First Class. The story is still based on the basic idea by producer Bryan Singer, however it's unknown if any of Jamie Moss's original script remains.

*How long have they been trying to get a second Judge Dredd film off the ground? I think ever since I graduated high school for chryssakes! Now it's looking like it might actually happen, as a deal with Reliance Big Media has been struck to finance the film, which already has high profile director Pete Travis(Vantage Point) on board. Expect this one to be shopped heavily at Cannes. Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. I've never liked the Judge Dredd character, who just struck me as The Punisher with a badge and stupid bucket helmet.
