The Rock to Join FAST and FURIOUS 5?

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson seems to be doing his damndest to shed that family film deadweight that's been crushing his shoulders for the past few years. He's got a major role in upcoming action/comedy The Other Guys starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, plus high octane flick Faster is on the horizon. Now it looks like he's set to square off with fellow action superstar Vin Diesel in the fifth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, Fast Five.

Phew! I was  getting really worried we might see these two team up as competing au pairs in The Nanny Diaries 2 or something. With the way their careers are going, you know I'm not being that far fetched. Honestly, Diesel has made some serious strides to get his cred back after that whole The Pacifier debacle. Now Johnson is building himself back up as well. Here's hoping the two get to work with eachother on a singular action thriller that isn't part of an established franchise. I want to see these two slugging it out, not skidding on the pavement.

Fast Five is set to race into theaters on June 10, 2011.
