The Sunday Drive: 11/14/10

3. Unstoppable
Denzel Washington and Chris Pine team up for a Fall action thriller that feels like a Summer blockbuster. Teaming up for the fifth time with his favorite director, Tony Scott, Washington must find a way to stop rampaging unmanned train filled with toxic chemicals before it derails in a heavily populated city.
2. 127 Hours
How do you shoot a movie about a guy who spent 5 days trapped by a boulder? If you're director Danny Boyle, you utilize your gift for kinetic shooting angles and  capturing vibrant, sprawling landscapes. It doesn't hurt to have James Franco giving the performance of his career as Aron Ralston, who made the ultimate sacrifice to save himself from an unimaginable situation.
1. Morning Glory
Movies about the "news biz" are often heavy handed or overly sentimental, but Morning Glory is a charming, perky comedy featuring three remarkable performances. Rachel McAdams stars as the ambitious, driven producer of the worst TV morning talk show in town. In an effort to turn things around, she risks everything by bringing in a hard nosed newsman who doesn't exactly share her aspirations. Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton round out a veteran cast in this suprisingly fun film from JJ Abrams' Bad Robot.

DVD Pick of the Week: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
A love story for the video game generation, Scott Pilgrim stars Michael Cera as a slacker that the ladies just can't seem to resist. That is everybody except the beautiful and mysterious Ramona Flowers(Mary Elizabeth Winstead), who sets Scott's world on fire from the first moment he sets eyes on her. But winning her heart is going to take more than a dozen roses or a box of chocolates. He'll need to defeat her seven evil exes(led with villainous gusto by Jason Schwartzmann) to truly set her free to love again, but along the way Scott might just learn a thing or two about himself. A hyper kinetic action romp from Edgar Wright(Shaun of the Dead).
