The Sunday Drive: 12/12/10

3. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The third film based on CS Lewis's classic stories has found a new lease on life, moving from Disney over to Fox, and adding veteran director Michael Apted.  Lucy and Edmund, along with their annoying brat cousin Eustace, find themselves transported to the magical land one final time, called upon to find the seven lost lords of Narnia.
2. The Tourist
Forget all the stuff about secret identities and mysterious criminal masterminds, The Tourist is a lighthearted trifle of a film that is best looked upon as a gorgeous vacation trip with two of America's most glamorous celebrities: Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.  Kinda makes me wonder how it would've been if Sam Worthington and Charlize Theron had won the roles as originally intended.

1. Black Swan
Arguably the most polarizing film you'll see all year, Darren Aronofsky's intense ballet drama walks a fine line between melodrama and preposterousness. Natalie Portman gives an Oscar worthy performance as Nina, a perfection obsessed prima ballerina who has just won the role of a lifetime, but is utterly unprepared for the pressures that are about to be heaped upon her.

DVD Pick of the Week: Inception
Was there ever any doubt what the pick would be? Christopher Nolan's ambitious, genre defying film might leave a few people scratching their heads, but those who allow themselves to get sucked into the world he creates will be rewarded. Leonardo Dicaprio stars as Cobb, a thief who walks the world of his victim's dreams, stealing away their secrets and ideas to be sold to the highest bidder. There's just one problem: Cobb is losing control of his own psyche, and if it isn't fixed soon the biggest job of his career could be in jeopardy.
