George Clooney set to solve the case of The Monster of Florence

Briefly...

As if we aren't going to see enough of George Clooney's mug over the next year, now he's attached to The Monster of Florence, based on the true crime novel by Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi.  Clooney would be starring as Preston, who along with Spezi, claimed to have identified the serial killer behind 16 murders perpetrated through Florence, Italy from 1968 to 1985.

The reason I say "claimed" is because the man they finger for the killings, Antonio Vinci, hasn't been convicted of anything and continues to deny it. In fact, others have already been prosecuted, convicted, and ultimately released due to lack of evidence for the crime.

The script is being written by Christopher McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander. Clooney basically took 2010 off, only appearing on screen in one film, The American.
