Sure Shots: Emma Roberts; Kenan Thompson; The Three Stooges

* Emma Roberts is slowly growing into one of my favorite young actresses, especially after how good she was in It's Kind of a Funny Story last year. She'll be popping up in Scream 4 in just a few weeks, by far the biggest starring gig of her career, but she won't be sitting back on that for long. The Playlist reports she's now attached to Adult World, from writer/director Scott Coffey(Ellie Parker). Roberts would be a Stanford grad and aspiring poet who winds up working at a bookstore.

* The trash heaps are littered with the discarded DVD cases of failed Saturday Night Live movie adaptations, and some of those featured some damn funny folks! Now it looks like another one is on the way starring one of the least entertaining castmates in the show's storied history. Deadline reports Kenan Thompson is set to star in Party Starters, written by longtime SNL writer Bryan Tucker. Thompson would play a guy whose job it is to get old folks dancing at parties. Ugh that sounds absolutely horrid. Thompson found early career success as part of the Nickelodeon show, All That, which then spawned the successful theatrical comedy, Good Burger. He also played Fat Albert. Just thought you should be reminded of that.

* The casting of The Farrelly Brothers' Three Stooges film has gotten to be about as messy as the comedy troupe's infamous pie fights. With all the supposed candidates having dropped out of the running, another name has now emerged. THR reports that Will Sasso(Mad TV) has been mentioned as a contender to play any of the trio. Anybody? Really?  That's not good. The story also notes that Cher recently tweeted her desire for a supporting role. Yuck. The Farrelly's were hoping for a start date next month, but that's looking highly unlikely right now.
