Colin Farrell, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken go crazy over Seven Psychopaths

There's still a pretty good segment of folks who think Colin Farrell is a terrible actor, but for me he's progressed way beyond the Phone Booth andSWAT days. The last couple of years have shown that he's got more range than previously thought, with surprising turns in Crazy Heart and The Way Back. But without a doubt the best performance he ever gave was in Martin McDonagh's hitman comedy, In Bruges. Now Farrell will be partnering up with McDonagh on his next film, the wacky crime caper Seven Psychopaths.
McDonagh is again writing and directing, having made his jump from the theater to the big screen with In Bruges. Farrell would play a writer suffering from severe writer's block, who gets caught up in a weird dognapping scheme perpetrated by his two friends, played by Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken. Matters only get more effed up when a local mobster, played by Mickey Rourke, loses his own pet pup.

Since it's called Seven Psychopaths I'm going to assume there are three more nutjobs yet to be cast. But really, who wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall during those script readings with Rourke, Farrell, Walken, and Rockwell all together in one place? Insane. Here's hoping the DVD has outtakes or a blooper reel or something.

The film is being shopped at Cannes, so hopefully we'll get to see this thing some time next year. Farrell will be seen next in the comedy, Horrible Bosses, starring Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston. Thanks to Variety for the details on this story.
