I was never that big of a Tekken fan. When it came down to video game brawlers, my loyalty began and end with Capcom's Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom series. Tekken was always that game you were forced to play at a friend's house because he thought the polygonal fighters looked cool. Or they liked fighting with a kangaroo. When it comes to movies, however, Tekken actually holds it's own pretty well against Street Fighter. I mean, nothing will ever come close to the original Street Fighter II anime, but Tekken has a bunch of flicks that actually aren't all that terrible. The next one, titled Tekken: Blood Vengeance, looks like the best yet.
Completely done through CG and in 3D directed by Youchi Mouri, the man who did the cinematics in the Tekken 5 & 6 video games, it features all the characters we've come to know and love in an epic story that sees them in pitched combat with eachother. The script was written by Dai Soto, who has done work on both Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. It's due to be released in Japan later this summer, but as far as I can tell no US release has been established. A new teaser trailer has been unveiled which you can check out below!
