So if I were at Cannes right now I'd be camped out in front of wherever Nicholas Winding Refn's Drive will be premiering and snapping ferociously at anybody who tries to get past me. If my homie Kevin "BDK" McCarthy doesn't see it I'm going to beat him around the head and neck. Suffice it to say I'm super amped for the film for a number of reasons. Refn has never failed to make interesting choices in all of his films(Valhalla Rising
, Bronson
, Pusher
), and we get to see how Ryan Gosling handles his first real action flick. From the clip we saw a few days ago, it seems as if he handles it just fine. Did I mention the cast is phenomenal?The story has Gosling as a stunt driver who moonlights as a wheelman for some seedy types, but finds himself under fire when a job goes south. Carey Mulligan is a lady he takes a liking to, while Bryan Cranston is his sorta mentor. All three are featured in this new clip, a total 180 from the previous one. Not at all about intense car chase stuff, but showing that there's going to be more to than the fast paced bits we've seen so far. I'd expect no less from Refn.
Drive is due to hit theaters on September 6th!
