How I Met Your Mother
star Josh Radnor's directorial debut,
Happythankyoumoreplease
, came and went out of theaters in most cities. I enjoyed it mostly for all the talented folks working around Radnor, although I think his performance was a bit too self aware for it's own good. Regardless, it was a strong first effort, and for his follow-up,
Liberal Arts, he's rounded up one of the fastest rising actresses going in Elizabeth Olsen(
Silent House). Proving that he knows not to let go of a good thing, Radnor is now going back to what worked in his debut, bringing in veteran character actor Richard Jenkins(
The Visitor
) as well.
Variety broke the news, stating that Jenkins will play the favorite college professor to the lead character, Jesse, played by Radnor himself. The film follows the 35 year old Jesse, an admissions worker at a university, who goes back to his Liberal Arts alma mater in Ohio where he's romanced by a 19 year old student(Olsen).
Also joining Jenkins in the film will be Elizabeth Reaser(
Twilight
) as a bookstore employee and possible Radnor love interest; John Magaro(
My Soul to Take
) as a depressed student; and Michael Weston(
Garden State
) as an NYC buddy.
For Jenkins, he's stayed consistently busy throughout his career, mostly through notable supporting roles. In 2007 he gave a riveting lead performance in
The Visitor, and was just seen in The Farrelly Brothers'
Hall Pass.
