Trailer Time: Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds
Warner Brothers' big push for their superhero event of the year, Green Lantern, was a disaster in the opening few months. The first trailer was awful and could best be described as a great big emerald turd. Some poor images followed, the film was looking like a dud regardless of how likable Ryan Reynolds was. Then we started hearing reports about the visual effects not being complete, which explained why some of the previous stuff was so weak. Four minutes of space heavy action were released, and it was so good I immediately wanted to start selling Green Lantern merchandise. Now comes another trailer for the film, which I'm hoping will be the last because it is by far the best of the bunch so far.
This one shows the true promise of a Green Lantern film, huge universe spanning adventures with hundreds of different alien species. This should be the most awe inspiring comic book movie we see all year because the majority of it should take place deep in the unknown, on far off planets unlike anything we'll see from any Marvel movie this year or next. The stuff we've seen on earth with Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan trying to cope with his powers has been mostly off the mark, but the more we see of the GL Corps the more excited I am. Check out the new trailer below, and look out for Green Lantern when it hits theaters on June 17th!
