What does it say about the career trajectory for Clive Owen that he's reduced to playing the bad guy in a Jason Statham flick? Some will see it as a negative, but dammit I don't care because it's two of my favorite actors going toe-to-toe in a machismo feud so potent half the women in the audience will leave pregnant. People should be more concerned with Robert De Niro, who finds himself taking third billing opposite the other two. It's just plain weird seeing him in a flick like
The Killer Elite, even if he does get to kick a little ass.
Our first trailer for the Gary McKendry directed film is finally here, and to me it looks like a nice throwback actioner. Based on Sir Ranulph Fiennes' 1991 novel, the story has Statham starring as an elite special ops agent pulled out of exile and putting together a team to rescue his mentor(De Niro) from an evil group known as The Feather Men. Clive Owen plays their villainous leader. Dominic Purcell and Yvonne Strahovski co-star.
