Annie Mumolo and Robert Smigel join Judd Apatow's Knocked Up spinoff

Judd Apatow is putting together an offbeat cast for his first Knocked Up spinoff, rumored to be titled This is Forty. The film is a continuation of sorts, following the troubled couple of Pete(Paul Rudd) and Debbie(Leslie Mann) as they deal with growing older and facing new temptations. So far the cast includes Megan Fox, Albert Brooks, Charlyne Yi, Lena Dunham, Chris O'Dowd, Wyatt Russell, Ryan Lee, and Melissa McCarthy. But McCarthy and O'Dowd aren't going to be the only Bridesmaids vets making an appearance.

Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo has joined the film, along with Robert Smigel, reports THR. Mumulo's talents extend beyond the scripted page, however. She also made a brief appearance in Bridesmaids as Kristen Wiig's nervous flight mate. Smigel is probably best known as the creator and voice of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Maybe we'll get lucky and the foul mouthed, nerd hating pooch will make an appearance as well. The two will play a couple who are the best friends of Pete and Debbie.

I've been a little down on Apatow lately, with his producing credits far outshining his writing/directing efforts. As long as he can find the right balance of humor
