Arnold Schwarzenegger to take on Kim Ji-Woon's The Last Stand

So Arnold Schwarzenegger had himself a little scandal. It was just a love child he'd been hiding for more than a decade! What does that have to do with his ability to make box office bank? I'd say it proves he's a wonderfully versatile actor. Whatever. Besides putting together a crappy cartoon, the Arnie had a bunch of films on his plate since his term as Governor ended. Two of those were Cry Macho, the terribly titled drama-ish horse trainer film, and the other was The Last Stand, in which he'd get a chance to kick a little but. All of Arnold's potential projects were put on hold after the scandal broke, but clearly that must be ending now because Deadline reports his next film will be The Last Stand, while Cry Macho may be dead as a doornail.

The film sounds like a more violent version of Walking Tall, with Arnie starring as a small town sheriff who takes on a vicious drug cartel and it's leader, recently released from prison. It features a script by Andrew Knauer and Jeffrey Nachmanoff, but the real draw is that it'll be directed by Kim Ji-Woon(I Saw the Devil) in his English-language debut.

As for Cry Macho, Brad Furman(The Lincoln Lawyer) is still attached, and the start date's been kicked back until next year. So it could still happen, not that anybody cares. It sounds terrible, and if people are ever going to get over what Arnie did, they're going to need to see him kicking ass and not shedding tears.
