New images: The Ides of March; Twixt; 360

The release of the line-up for the Toronto International Film Festival has led to the release of a buttload of new images for movies I've been itching to see. The first is a new shot of Ryan Gosling in the George Clooney directed political drama, The Ides of March. Based on Beau Willimon's stage play Farragut North, it stars Clooney, Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, and Evan Rachel Wood in a story based on the 2004 presidential primary campaign of Howard Dean. Look for it to hit theaters on October 7th.

By all accounts, Francis Ford Coppola's Comic-Con presentation for his gothic horror Twixt was the steal of the show. Presenting what can only be described as a creatively malleable film where the narrative can be remixed on the fly, featuring live music. Insane. At it's core Twixt features Val Kilmer as a mystery novelist who gets embroiled in a real life murder investigation in a strange California town. Coppola plans to take it on a 30 city tour which will likely be different every single night. These three new shots give us yet another look at Elle Fanning as a dead girl(still around and kickin'!), and also Ben Chaplin I think as Edgar Allan Poe.

And lastly, there's a film I had completely forgotten about but am very happy to be reminded of. Fernando Mereilles' romantic thriller, 360, which feautures a number of interconnected stories following one member of a relationship as they switch partners. Mereilles has been the driving force behind two of my favorite movies ever,  City of God and The Constant Gardener. 360 was written by Peter Morgan(The Queen) and features Rachel Weisz(I'm sold!!), Jude Law, Ben Foster, Jarnel Debouze, Karl Markovic, Maria Flor, and Juliano Cazarr. No release date yet, but this seems like definite awards fodder.
