Trailer Time: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
So they didn't show the Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows trailer ahead of tonight's screening of Harry Potter. Instead we got the intolerable hip hopness of Happy Feet 2, and that same friggin' trailer for Crazy Stupid Love. But Warner Brothers has come through by presenting it tonight, ahead of it's theatrical premier this weekend.
All the likely culprits are back: Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr. turning Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic detective into a brawling, joking cad. Jude Law as his loyal sidekick, Watson. The trailer is exactly what you'd expect. Lots of Holmes looking simulataneously brilliant and ridiculous, with Watson as his tough straight man. I'm digging how the very first image you see is that of Noomi Rapace as the gypsy, Sim, putting one of the new faces right out there early. I wish we could've seen a bit more of Jared Harris as Moriarty, and even a little of Stephen Fry as Mycroft Holmes. It's all good, though. The first film shocked me with how good it turned out to be. Take a Jerry Bruckheimer film and give it like five extra IQ points and that's what it was. A summer blockbuster in December. Who knew?
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows opens on December 16th!
