Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis on the set of The Expendables 2

Just who will make up the final roster of The Expendables 2 is still up in the air, but we have a pretty good idea of the principles. Sylvester Stallone will of course be back to head up his team of gun toting fogeys, with Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, and Randy Couture. Liam Hemsworth, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Scott Adkins are the new faces, hopefully providing a boost of energy the first film seriously lacked(except for the final 15 minutes).

Last month we also got confirmation of the return of Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger for the sequel, in what's being described as "expanded" roles. It's expected that the two will play bad guys of some sort, springing from their contentious cameo with Sly in The Expendables. With shooting on the film now underway in Bulgaria, Schwarzenegger tweeted this photo of himself along with Sly and Willis, looking nice and chummy...

It's amazing to me that Bruce Willis is old enough to be considered in the same age bracket as those two fossils, but there he is looking like he just swiped the last spoonful of Metamucil.

Directed by Simon West, The Expendables 2 is expected to hit theaters on August 17th 2012. It's supposed to more of a martial arts homage than the previous one, with rumors circulating of global superstar Donnie Yen(Ip Man) joining the cast. Jet Li still isn't confirmed to return, while John Travolta and Nicolas Cage may figure into the picture somewhere.
