Eduardo Noriega to square off with Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Last Stand
While Spanish actor Eduardo Noriega is probably best known to American audiences for his role in Pete Travis' fractured political thriller, Vantage Point, to me he'll always be recognized for starring in Brad Anderson's great mystery film, Transsiberian. For those willing to look for it, Noriega gives an impressive turn opposite Sam Shepard in the Butch Cassidy western, Blackthorn(due out this week), and now he'll have a shot to face another grizzled old veteran in Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Variety reports that Noriega has joined the cast of The Last Stand, a high velocity action film from South Korean director Kim Ji-Woon(I Saw the Devil). Schwarzenegger stars as a disgraced former LAPD cop, now resigned to being sheriff of a small border town with little crime. That is until a botched FBI transport allows a notorious druglord(Noriega) to escape. Equipped with a specially outfitted ride, a hostage, and his hardened crew of loyal followers in tow, the wanted fugitive is speeding to the border with only Schwarzenegger and his team in the way to stop him.
Shooting kicks off in New Mexico later this month. Jaime Alexander(Thor), Rodrigo Santoro(300), Peter Stormare(Fargo), and Zach Gilford(Post Grad) co-star.
