Taken 2 finds it's villain in Rade Sherbedgia; plot details revealed
What's the likelihood that Bryan Mills(Liam Neeson) will let his daughter out of his sight again long enough for her to get kidnapped? Did you see what happened the last time? Old dude got seriously medievel on those non-descript, sex slaving European dudes. Would anybody in their right mind get within spitting distance of her? Not bloody likely. So it's probably safe to assume that whatever sets Mills off in Taken 2, it won't involve her. Oh, wait, what's that? Bryan's WIFE gets kidnapped instead? This is a joke, right?
Wrong. That is indeed what's in store for the sequel, to be directed by the man with the greatest name on earth, Olivier Megaton(Transporter 3). Rade Sherbedgia(Snatch, X-men: First Class) will be the villain this time around, the father of one of the men killed in the first film. To get revenge, he kidnaps Bryan and his wife while they're on vacation in Istanbul(it's like they're asking for trouble!!). To escape and get a little payback, Bryan seeks the help of his daughter Kim(the returning Maggie Grace). I guess she's been taking self defense classes or something.
This sounds absolutely ridiculous, and although Taken was hardly the most subtle of films, it wasn't as silly as the Transporter movies. I'm afraid Megaton is going to try and turn Neeson into the new Jason Statham. He'll be fighting thugs covered in motor oil and taking down entire merc operations with a wet towel before too long.
Taken 2 is set to hit theaters on October 5th 2012. [THR]
