Voltron: The End, an amazing live-action short film from Alex Albrecht

Hollywood's been trying to get a live-action Voltron movie off the ground for years. It seems like a sure fire winner, doesn't it? Giant robots, huge space faring adventures, political intrigue. The film has stalled, re-started, then stalled again, frustrating fans of the classic anime series eager to see it brought to life on the big screen. Most recently talk of a film has kicked up again, with writers Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer(A Sound of Thunder) brought in to hammer out a script. I won't hold my breath. No director has been assigned to the job as of yet, but might I suggest Alex Albrecht be thrown to the top of the list?

Albrecht is probably best recognized from the Diggnation podcast or as the co-host of G4's old The Screen Savers TV show. He now hosts the daily geek video podcast, The Totally Rad Show, and along with co-host Dan Trachtenberg, the two have put together a brilliantly conceived short film titled Voltron: The End, in which Lance(commander of the Red Lion) awakens after a devastating "accident" caused by the evil King Zarkon. With life support fading and his team seemingly destroyed, he has mere moments to make the hardest decision of his life. It's awesome stuff, and I hope whoever is making the big screen flick is taking notes...
