Trailer Time: This Means War, starring Reese Witherspoon and Tom Hardy
Ugh. Who plays The Girl From Ipanema when tryin' to get laid on a date? Actually, you might be asking yourself why you took your date to see This Means War, since you'll look like raw cookie dough compared to stars Tom Hardy and Chris Pine.
The duo star as a pair of CIA agents and best friends, who come to realize that they are both dating the same skanky broad(Reese Witherspoon). Rather than tossin' her aside like yesterday's garbage, they decide to use our taxpayer dollars and every weapon in the CIA's disposal to try and take eachother out. So much for bros before hoes. Check out the trailer for This Means War below....
If the premise sounds a bit old and flimsy, there's a perfectly reasonable explanation. This Means War was originally planned waaaaaaay back in 2001, and at the time had Martin Lawrence(!!?) and Chris Rock(!!?!) in the leads. The film got dropped, then jolted back to life a few years ago, going through numerous leading men(Sam Worthington, Seth Rogen, Bradley Cooper) before settling on Hardy and Pine. McG(Charlie's Angels) put his very obvious stylistic stamp on the film as director.
So with that little bit of history, how do you feel about this trailer? To me it looks like fairly generic schlock, like a lower class Mr. and Mrs. Smith. We'll find out when This Means War opens next year on February 17th!
