WWE prepping The Marine 3 as part of new network plan
Vince McMahon has been trying unsuccessfully for years to get an entire channel devoted to the superstars of the WWE. Back in September he finally made it happen, announcing that the WWE Network would debut(for a small monthly fee) in 2012, with the channel to be a mix of live in-ring action, classic matches, and traditional broadcast programming. Despite the millions of hours of wrestling footage WWE has at their disposal(they own the broadcast rights to the old WCW, ECW, and NWA), filling a 24hr day with programming isn't easy. Enter WWE Studios, who will be helping fill in the gaps with more movies featuring their extensive roster.
One such film that is already in the works is The Marine 3. Writers are already hard at work on the film, but no names have been revealed as of yet. The first film released in 2006 starred the WWE's premier babyface, John Cena, and was also the company's most successful film to date earning north of $22M. The straight-to-DVD sequel was released three years later and starred Ted DiBiase Jr.
So expect to see more sequels such as this in the coming year. See No Evil 2, maybe?
