Emma Thompson the latest to join the cast of 'Beautiful Creatures'

Warner Brothers and Alcon Entertainment must see something really special in Beautiful Creatures, based on the first book in the fantasy novel series from Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Labeled the "next Twilight" by some in the biz, the books follow two star-crossed teen lovers, Ethan and Lena, who discover strange secrets about their town, their families and even themselves while trying to break a years old curse. Academy Award nominee Viola Davis was the first to sign up for the film just last week, and now a previous Academy Award winner has been added to the growing roster.

Emma Thompson is the latest to join the cast of the tween adaptation, playing the dual role of town firebrand Mrs. Lincoln, and Sarafine, the evil witch who possesses her. Youngsters Jack O’Connell and Alice Englert will take on the two leads, having been named to the film just a couple of days ago.  Davis plays a librarian and mother figure to the Ethan character.

Richard LaGravanese(Water for Elephants) will adapt and direct. Thompson will be heard lending a voice to Pixar's original fairy tale, Brave, and will be seen later this year in Men in Black 3.
