Apparently the wait was well worth it. Response to Whit Stillman's Damsels in Distress from the festival has been extremely positive, with many saying the offbeat comedy maintains the "mannerless" vibe of his previous films and features some hilarious turns by it's mostly female cast. Damsels in Distress marks Stillman's first movie in thirteen years, with the last being 1998's The Last Days of Disco.
Set in an east coast university, the story follows a small clique of four women who use a variety of off-the-wall tactics to help others with their various man troubles. Greta Gerwig, Analeigh Tipton, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Carrie MacLemore, Adam Brody, Aubrey Plaza, Hugo Becker, and Alia Shawkat co-star. The latest poster for the film is simple, but definitely has a quirky, slightly skewed vibe. Exactly what you'd expect from a Stillman pic. Damsels in Distress opens on April 6th.
