It's pretty hard to get excited over Total Recall with a director like Len Wiseman in charge. He's just not a very inspiring film maker, and all one has to do is look at the Underworld franchise for evidence. It's merely solid, when a more dynamic director could have made it kick some serious ass.
With the August 3rd release date approaching, and a full trailer on the way in a few days, we're getting our first look at footage from the Colin Farrell sci-fi remake via a 30 second international promo. Farrel takes on the Doug Quaid role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1990 film, although this version sticks closer to Philip K. Dick's novel. There'll be no trips to Mars this time, although the basic premise remains mostly intact. Government conspiracies, rebel factions, and fractured personalities are the name of the game.
The footage looks unfinished to me, and with some saying it looks like what was shown at last year's Comic-Con that might explain why. Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, John Cho(looking ridiculous), Bryan Cranston, Bill Nighy, and Ethan Hawke co-star....
