We've mostly ignored Tom Hooper's adaptation of hit Broadway musical, Les Miserables, mainly because neither of us are huge fans of the source material....or of Tom Hooper for that matter. But we do like us some Hugh Jackman, so when we get a chance to see him in anything it's worth taking a note of.
The first image of Jackman as Jean Valjean has been released, showing him on set before a scene that is likely set in the beginning of the story. Victor Hugo's 1862 novel follows the character's struggles after being released from prison for stealing bread. Russell Crowe plays his nemesis, Inspector Javert. Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, and Aaron Tveit co-star.
Les Miserables is set to open on December 15th. [Yahoo!]
