1st look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Rian Johnson's time travel thriller, 'Looper'
One thing you can always count on from any Rian Johnson film is that he'll use genre to do something wildly different than the norm. The same could have been said of his two movies, Brick and The Brothers Bloom. He appears to be doing much the same thing with science fiction, specifically time travel, in his upcoming sci-fi film, Looper.
We've seen an image of Bruce Willis already, but fresh off the WonderCon panel yesterday we're getting the first two shots of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and if you think he looks a little weird it's because he's heavily made up with prosthetics in order to look like....Bruce Willis. Yep, Gordon-Levitt is portraying a younger version of Willis as the story features a time travel aspect that has him trying to kill off his older self. Sound crazy? It's just the beginning.
Looper takes place in a future where time travel has been created, but is illegal and used primarily by the criminal element. The mob uses it to get rid of someone by sending them back through time, where they are then killed by a "looper" under their employ. Gordon-Levitt plays one of these enforcers, who is shocked when he recognizes his next target is a future version of himself, but the job still has to be done. Paul Dano, Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels, and Piper Perabo will co-star when Looper opens on September 28th.
