1st look at Toby Jones and Sienna Miller as Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren in 'The Girl'
Hollywood doesn't just have an endless obsession with the films of Alfred Hitchcock, they also have a serious jones for the man himself. Two movies are currently underway about the legendary director, both focusing on different aspects of his personality. The first is Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, and Scarlett Johansson in a story that shows his determination to get the classic horror done when others thought it was a terrible idea.
The other is The Girl, a BBC production featuring Toby Jones(watch for him in The Hunger Games) as Hitchock, and follows his complicated on/off screen relationship with Tippi Hedren, played by Sienna Miller. Hedren famously starred in The Birds and Marnie for the director, but couldn't stand his off set behavior and sexual advances. She refused to work with him again after Marnie, and her career went into a free fall.[DailyMail]
We're getting our first look at Jones and Miller in the film, and it's amazing how he can fit so neatly into playing larger than life figures. He was brilliant as Truman Capote in Infamous, and equal parts nerdy and creepy as Karl Rove in W. Hopefully this will be a backstage celebrity gossip fest with more teeth to it than My Week with Marilyn. Julian Jarrold(Becoming Jane) will direct based on a script by Gwyneth Hughes. We'll let you know once the BBC nails down an air date.
