This is an incredible week for new DVD releases, folks, so be sure to read all the way through and take advantage of some amazing deals on some great movies!
3. Carnage
This is the totally fictional story of what happens when four upper class yuppies stop acting polite and start getting real. Roman Polanski pulled together the incredible foursome of Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly, Jodie Foster, and Christoph Waltz for this light, but deeply insightful comedy about two sets of parents discussing a fight between their sons. Well, "discussing" may be the wrong word....
2. The Muppets
After far too long away from the silver screen, Jim Henson's classic characters are back and doing what they do best...entertaining. Muppets enthusiast Jason Segel, along with director James Bobin, have done what many thought was impossible, and that is capturing the nostalgia for older fans while making The Muppets relevant for the first time in years. They did this with an unbridled passion, along with a healthy dose of celebrity cameos, but mainly by retaining the slyly subversive humor that made Kermit and the gang famous.
1. Battle Royale: The Complete Collection (Blu-Ray)
Finding new life thanks to the arrival of the similarly themed The Hunger Games, Battle Royale is one of the greatest and most controversial films of all-time. Never released in theaters here due to the extreme violence, the story has the Japanese government sending the worst high school kids off to an island to kill each other until only one remains.
