Trailer Time: 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter', starring Benjamin Walker and Dominic Cooper

Fox has gauged just the right approach to pushing their daffy horror/historical mash-up flick, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Rather than hiding just how ludicrous the idea of a vamp slaying Honest Abe is, they've decided to embrace it and hope people turn up for what promises to be the most ridiculous movie about a President since W.

A mere month after the first trailer debuted, the second one has been released and it's basically more of the same. Lots of quick shots of Lincoln(Benjamin Walker) twirling his trusty ax, interspersed with scenes of great wars. One of the things most noticeable is how deadly serious the whole thing is, which at least in my mind makes it even funnier. Fox's confidence in their marketing towards the film has to be in recognizing there is a certain Snakes On a Planet element at play here, with many folks wanting to turn up and see if this is a train wreck or a guilty pleasure. Unfortunately we don't get to see nearly enough of the cast in this trailer, which includes Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Rufus Sewell, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

All in all, this is exactly the sort of thing you would expect from a Tim Burton-produced historical horror comedy, and you can see why he's grown so fond of Seth Grahame-Smith, the author of the book the film is based on. Grahame-Smith also wrote the script for Burton's Dark Shadows remake. Timur Bekmambetov is director. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens on June 22nd!
