Trailer Time: 'Dark Shadows', directed by Tim Burton

After weeks of build up and a slew of new images, the highly anticipated trailer for Dark Shadows has arrived and it's just as bonkers as you might expect from a Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration written by the guy behind Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Based on the campy gothic soap opera from the 1976s, the story centers Barnabas Collins(Depp), who in 1752 breaks the heart of a powerful witch(Eva Green), who then transforms him into a vampire then buries him alive. Two hundred years later he is mistakenly awoken, only to find his beloved manor overrun by his wacky, secretive descendants.

The TV series was weird, but but Burton and Depp have infused their film with a ton of kooky comedy, with much of the humor seeming to center on Barnabas and the culture shock he's experiencing in the "modern" age. "What sorcery is this?" he says while trying to figure out that crazy television set. This is the kind of offbeat role Depp thrives in, and Eva looks to be pulling out all of the stops as well in what should be a hilarious game of cat and mouse between the two.

Dark Shadows co-stars Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, and Bella Heathcoate. Look for it to open on May 11th....
