Trailer Time: 'The Host', starring Saoirse Ronan
As movies get more expensive and the need to keep up awareness on every single project only grows, we're seeing teaser trailers arriving faster and faster. For instance, The Host only entered production a month ago and here we are already with a trailer. Seeing as how it's based on a novel by Twilight Saga author, Stephenie Meyer, the plan is likely to piggyback on the hype for this weekend's trailer for Breaking Dawn pt. 2.
All complaints about Twilight aside, at least they don't feature a plot as confusing as this. Saoirse Ronan takes on dual roles in the film, set in a future benevolent alien "souls" have taken over the minds of humans. One such soul named Wanderer finds itself incapable of completely possessing the consciousness of Melanie Stryder, a strong willed young woman determined to find one of the last rebel human colonies on the planet, where she hopes to locate her loved ones. There is a central love story, more like a love rhombus, involving two men who fall in love with both Melanie and Wanderer. Diane Kruger, Max Irons, William Hurt, Jake Abel, and Francis Fisher co-star in the film, which features a script and direction by Andrew Niccol(Gattaca).
There isn't a whole lot to the trailer, and only a brief look Ronan featuring strangely colored eyes. Not much to go on. The Host is set to open on March 29th 2013, but will fans of Meyer's work flock to this as well?
