Will Ferrell to enroll at 'Crazy U'
Whoo hoo! "We're going streaking!" Unfortunately, there won't be any more Frank the Tank sightings this time, although Will Ferrell is headed back to college for his next film, an adaptation of Andrew Ferguson's book, Crazy U: One Dad's Crash Course in Getting His Kid Into College. Sorry, gang. I know you were hoping for that Old School sequel but this ain't it.
Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez productions will co-produce the film, which follows the author's frenzied attempts to secure the best college opportunity for his son. That includes navigating the cutthroat admissions process, hiring admissions counselors, burying himself in advice books, and looking for any possible edge from his peers. And that doesn't even begin to tackle how to pay for the whole thing. New Line scooped up the film rights with plans for Ferrell to star, but it's still early on in the process. No director or screenwriter are attached yet.
We tend to see this subject tackled from the prospect's point of view, but rarely from the parents driving themselves crazy trying to do right by their kid. So I don't expect this to be a straight up comedy, but with some dramatic elements as well. Ferrell has proven to be better than most at combining the two. [Deadline]
