1st look at Edward Norton in 'The Bourne Legacy'

So is anybody excited for The Bourne Legacy yet? Admittedly, it was tough to buy in to it after Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass jetted the franchise they helped build into the best in the biz. Sure, Jeremy Renner is a great actor to step into the void, but playing somebody other than Jason Bourne yet taking place in the same world? Eh.

Tony Gilroy, the writer of all the previous Bourne films and now the director of 'Legacy', has an uphill climb on his hands. He made some serious headway in changing minds with a short but effective teaser trailer that was unlike any Bourne we had seen previously. In a recent interview with MTV(via ThePlaylist), Gilroy spoke about the need to freshen things up, especially since the Bourne movies have been some of the most copied in history. He also says to expect a different look, not at all similar to the shaky cam style employed by Greengrass. It's a smart move if he wants The Bourne Legacy to stand out from the rest of the pack. Hell, even Greengrass has made a mockery of his own style with overheated junk like Green Zone.

A new image was also released, giving us our first look at Edward Norton as the main villain the film. It's not much, but it tells me that his character is going to be extremely manipulative, a talker, who will likely spin the brain of Aaron Cross(Renner) like a top while his scheme plays out. We know that a bigger, more lethal shadow organization will be at work here, with the events spinning directly out of The Bourne Ultimatum. I'm sold. The film finally arrives into theaters on August 3rd!
