Darren Aronofsky set for 'Unforgiven' style George Washington biopic, 'The General'
In case you haven't noticed, hyped up butt kicking versions of famous Presidents is en vogue right now. We've already got Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on the way, but what about our first and most famous leader? Where's the love?
Variety reports that Darren Aronofsky is attached to produce and direct The General, a biopic on that cherry tree choppin' dude with the wooden teeth. Only this won't be your standard paint-by-numbers historical flick. While details are under wraps, it's described as being in the vein of Unforgiven. In what way? I don't know, but it could be pretty sweet! One thing that worries me are writers Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, who most recently did some scripting on Tower Heist. Not gonna win me over with that one, guys.
Paramount Pictures only has a few days to wrap a final deal on the film, and if they don't it'll be open for other studios. With Aronofsky attached and the potential awesomeness of the subject matter, you can bet it won't be on the market for long. Now, where's my superhero Obama flick?
