Michael Douglas will party down in 'Last Vegas'

Even though he took last year off, it still feels like something special every time Michael Douglas gets a chance to work his magic on the silver screen. Whether it was in the underrated Solitary Man, or as the ferocious Gordon Gekko in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, or adding a veteran touch to Haywire, Douglas is still able to deliver the goods. After he finishes re-teaming with Steven Soderbergh for the Liberace biopic, Behind the Candelabra, he'll step right into his next project which could be something of a gamble.

Variety reports that Douglas will star in Last Vegas, the Jon Turteltaub(National Treasure) directed comedy we first learned about last September. Basically it's The Hangover for old folks, following a group of old friends who head to Las Vegas for a bachelor party celebrating the last of them to get married. Douglas will play the guy tying the knot, marrying a woman half his age. Old tensions arise between Douglas and another of the buds regarding a woman they both loved back in the day. When we first learned about this, I hoped that Turteltaub would find a way to fit in Nicolas Cage, preferably as an Elvis impersonator. Fingers still crossed on that score.

Dan Futterman(Crazy Stupid Love) wrote the original script, although there have been some updates on it by Adam Brooks and Alan Yang. This could be a lot of fun, but it's going to depend a lot on who else gets cast. Who wants to bet Alan Arkin ends up in this at some point? Any takers?
