As Cannes gears up to release its full slate of films later today, news began to drop that a new trailer for David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis would arrive, and well, here it is and confirming it will be an official selection at the festival. All the more reason to be jealous of those who will be attending. I hate you with the heat of a thousand white hot suns. But, I don't envy all of my colleagues who will have to swim through the ocean of fans as Robert Pattinson hits the red carpet.
If you thought last month's teaser was crazy, then prepare to be blown away. Based on Don DeLillo's book, the story follows Eric Packer(Pattinson) a young billionaire who just wants to head up town to get a haircut, only to get stuck in his souped up limo on the worst day of traffic in Manhattan history. Sex, drugs, and unusual gunplay interfere with what should have been a routine day now gone terribly awry mostly thanks to Eric's own self destructive tendencies.
Juliette Binoche, Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti, Jay Baruchel, Sarah Gadon, Kevin Durand, and Mathiue Amalric will star when the film opens in France on May 23rd. After Cannes, we may see it in Toronto before opening some time after here in the States....[Allocine]
