Christina Ricci joins Susan Sarandon in 'Mother's Day'

So venturing into the world of TV didn't work out so well for Christina Ricci, as her much hyped stewardesses drama, Pan Am, crashed and burned after only one season. Fortunately, her movie career continues to keep her busy, even if she's never received the roles a person of her talent deserves. She's been relegated to some pretty bad flicks lately, like Bucky Larson and After.Life. Things may be turning around, though, as she's set to voice a villain in The Smurfs 2, and also get wooed by Robert Pattinson in the period drama, Bel Ami.

Deadline reports that Ricci will also turn up as part of the massive ensemble in Mother's Day, a film that will follow the relationships of a dozen mothers and daughters set during the holiday. So that's 24 roles that need to be cast right off the bat, and with Ricci on board that makes three locked up. Susan Sarandon is set to star alongside her real life daughter, Eva Amurri Martino.

The indie drama will be written and directed by Paul Duddridge. Doesn't really sound like my cup of tea, but I'll watch pretty much anything Ricci is in. However, if they want to spice it up by having her dress in Black Snake Moan garb, I won't complain.
