Even in the early years of the Wu-Tang Clan, it was clear that Robert Diggs, aka RZA, was bound for bigger things. Bigger than revolutionizing the hip hop industry with his crazy, new age electro-funk production style? Absolutely. While RZA has spread his wings as an actor and as a creator of some bad ass soundtracks, he's gotten in pretty good with Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth(Hostel). It's an association that appears to have paid off, as both have had played a part in RZA's directorial debut, The Man with the Iron Fists.
The first photo from the old school kung fu flick has been released, and it's pretty God damn gory stuff. That shouldn't be too much of a surprise, as RZA is probably taking some cues from Tarantino's Kill Bill(for which RZA worked on some music), along with Roth's influence as co-writer. In what could be either the most awesome thing ever or a disastrous fail, Russell Crowe will get all chop-socky bad ass opposite RZA in a story that has a renowned blacksmith in feudal China defending his village from a mysterious threat. Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Dave Batista, Pam Grier, and Rick Yune will co-star.
