Gwen Stacy ducks The Lizard, Emma Stone endures Jay Leno in new 'The Amazing Spider-Man' clip

What the f**k is Spider-Man doing in this latest clip from The Amazing Spider-Man? One of the things that always bugged me about the Sam Raimi movies was how stupid often Spidey would remove his mask in public, as if he didn't give two craps about a secret identity. And yet here in Marc Webb's film, we get footage of Spidey(Andrew Garfield) out in the middle of crowded New York City talking on his cell phone. Wasn't anybody...I dunno....a little curious about this? Maybe if this was San Francisco I'd get it, but New York? Nah, not buying it. Somebody would have snatched that bad boy and had it in TMZ's hands in a New York minute. Phone records would be traced, covers blown, Parker family endangered. Yeah, it'd be a real clusterbomb for ol' Spidey.

Overall, this is a really well orchestrated piece of footage, showing Gwen Stacy's(Emma Stone) courageous side as she risks her life to evacuate a building and find some sort of vaccine to cure The Lizard(Rhys Ifans). Unfortunately, The Lizard isn't far behind, and soon comes barreling through the walls to get at her. There's a palpable tension in this clip that we haven't seen before, and I hope it's something that we see more of when the film hits on July 3rd.

Unfortunately, you're going to need to sit through about 3:45 worth of Stone chuckling her way through another weak Jay Leno interview. I thought that show was cancelled? I thought he was dead or something. Guess I was wrong. It's only his jokes that died long ago...
