Sure Shots: Brad Peyton; Jon Favreau; Clive Barker
* Brad Peyton(Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) is set to direct San Andreas 3D, which as you probably guessed by the title has to do with a massive earthquake hitting California.....in 3D!!!!!!! First announced last year, the film features a most recent script draft by Allan Loeb(The Switch), and is expected to have a budget around $100M. Peyton is also attached to direct an adaptation of DC Comics anti-hero, Lobo. [THR]
*Jon Favreau(Iron Man) is at the top of the list to direct the adaptation of hit Broadway Musical, Jersey Boys. First announced back in January, the John Logan-scripted film will tell the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and how they went from blue collar boys to the top of the pop music charts. Favreau, who still acts when not spending time behind the camera, will be seen next in Iron Man 3 as Happy Hogan, and will join Melissa McCarthy in the comedy, Identity Theft. [Variety]
* Horror-meister, Clive Barker(Hellraiser) is set to unleash a wave of zombies on ancient Rome. He's been tapped to rewrite and direct Zombies vs. Gladiators, a film in development over at Amazon Studios. Yes, they are indeed a part of Amazon.com, and their business model is an interesting one, developing features based on user submissions and ideas. They currently have 16 projects in development, with this looking like the furthest along, and definitely the most promising considering the popularity of the flesh eating undead right now. The story sounds pretty cool, following a gladiator who must save Rome from the first zombie attack in history, unleashed by a shaman's curse as he prepared to die in the Coliseum. [Deadline]
