New trailer and poster for 'Arbitrage', starring Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon

Ready for another movie dealing with the financial crisis? Doesn't that sound like fun, class?  Probably not, and movies that have dealt with the ongoing economic downturn haven't exactly set the house on fire. But there is one out there that has received some of the best buzz from out of Sundance, and it's unlike any other film on the subject we've seen so far.  While the title, Arbitrage, may have you dozing at the thought of rich people negotiating deals in boardrooms, the film is actually a psychological thriller about one man's epic fall from grace.

Richard Gere plays wealthy hedge fund magnate, Robert Miller, who is seeing his personal and professional life ripping him into a thousand different directions. While he puts on a strong front, the fact is that he's headed for a world of hurt. He's desperately trying to sell his company to a major bank before it's discovered he's been cooking the books. He's hiding not only his fraud from his wife(Susan Sarandon) and daughter(Brit Marling), but there's also the little matter of an affair he's having with a sexy art dealer. When a wrong turn leaves him with a heap more trouble and under the scrutinizing eye of a dogged NYPD cop(Tim Roth), he's forced to confront his many errors in unexpected ways.

We haven't had a chance to see Gere in anything this promising in a long time, which is surprising considering it comes from writer/director, Nicholas Jarecki(The Informers). He hasn't had quite the start to his career as his brothers, Andrew and Euguene, but this may be the movie that changes that real fast.

Arbitrage is set to open on September 14th....
