Peter Sarsgaard, Louis C.K., and Andrew Dice Clay join Woody Allen's next film
Ok, what the f**k is Woody Allen doing now? He's been piecing together his next film, set to begin shooting this summer in San Francisco and New York City, and so far the ensemble has been a reliable group of talented actors. Some are seasoned Allen vets, while others were new to the fold. Today sees the casting wrapped up with three new additions, one that makes perfect sense, and two that are totally out of left field.
Comedians Louis C.K. and Andrew Dice Clay(!!!) will join Peter Sarsgaard as the final pieces of the puzzle. We still don't know squat about the plot, but this bit of casting makes it all the more intriguing. Louis C.K. makes some sense on a comedic level, as his style of humor isn't that far away from Allen's. He was pretty good in the otherwise terrible The Invention of Lying opposite Ricky Gervais. The next season of his hit FX series, Louie, kicks off in June. Andrew Dice Clay on the other hand makes zero sense, but since we don't know how big any of these roles are perhaps it's too soon to start speculating. Maybe it's a Ford Fairlane sequel nobody told me about? No? Brain Smasher? Is this a time travel flick set in 1986? I guess that stint on Entourage has worked wonders for his career. Sarsgaard, who was last seen with a massive, gooey chrome dome in Green Lantern, should fit right in.
Cate Blanchett, Bradley Cooper, Bobby Cannavale, Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins, and Michael Emerson star. [Deadline]
