* Pedro Almodovar has always been one to bring actors along with him from film to film, but his upcoming comedy, Standby Lovers, is turning out to be one heck of a reunion. Already featuring Cecilia Roth, Lola Duenas, Javier Camera, Carlos Areces and Raul Arevalo along with Jose Maria Yazpik, the latest to join is the gorgeous, Paz Vega. Vega worked with Almodovar in the classic, Talk To Her, and starred in the red hot indie flick, Sex & Lucia. She's also dabbled in some Hollywood flicks like Spanglish and The Spirit, but only the former is worth remembering. We still don't know much about the plot, but production is expected to begin this summer. [Variety]
* Gareth Evans(The Raid) has signed up for his next film to direct after the eagerly awaited Berendal. It won't be Breaking the Bank, which he took on just last month. And no, it won't be set in the work of silat martial arts, either. It'll be a drama, and will mark his English language debut. That's all we know for now. Filming on the untitled effort begins next year. [Deadline]
* D'oh! Sorry, MacGruber fans. Looks like those hopes of a sequel just blow up in all of our faces. A couple of weeks ago, director Jorma Taccone hinted that a follow-up to the SNL sketch spinoff could be in the works, but star Will Forte recently shot that chatter down while doing the That's My Boy press rounds. He did sorta leave the door open in case any studios wanted to shell out the cash, but considering it couldn't even make back the meager $10M production budget, don't count on it happening. [AICN]
