Two new images from 'Resident Evil: Retribution'
Unless you were following the Resident Evil: Retribution production video blogs, which I haven't, then it's possible you forgot the film is even coming out. There hasn't been a lot of chatter about it, but then again there never really is. It's one of the longest running franchises going today, and without question the most successful series spawned by a video game, having grossed around $800M. We can mock Paul W. S. Anderson and his leggy wife Milla Jojovich all we want, but the fact remains the Resident Evil movies make money, with last year's breaking franchise records.
At this point, the storyline has turned a gigantic pile of zombie-infested mush. Jojovich is still on board as superhuman warrior, Alice, on a seemingly never ending quest to defeat the Umbrella Corporation, who have released a virus that is turning the world into a land of the undead. Resident Evil: Retribution doesn't stray far from the formula much, but there's an intriguing twist in that a number of old, presumed dead characters are returning. Are they zombies? Or Umbrella-created clones? A pair of new images have emerged, and they don't provide much in the way of answers. They do show that Alice is still kicking ass and looking good while doing it, and that Ada Wong(Li Bingbing) might want to invest in some proper zombie fighting gear.
Michelle Rodriguez, Kevin Durand, Sienna Guillory, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, Colin Salmon, and Oded Fehr will co-star when Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters on September 14th.
