After an eternity of Paramount trying to figure what to do with their moribund Jack Ryan franchise, the studio has had a fire lit under them over the last few months. Chris Pine has long been set to play a younger version of the popular Tom Clancy character, and after some issues finding a director, Kenneth Branagh took the job along with playing the film's chief villain. Now with a Christmas Day 2013 release date set in stone, the first day of shooting is underway, and with it comes our first glimpse at Pine...riding a motorcycle.
Ok, it's not like he's playing Captain Kirk with a cool Starfleet uniform to be decked out in. Basically it looks like Pine is taking a joyride through the city to get lunch or something. As dull as this image may be, Paramount's plans for Jack Ryan are pretty far reaching, with a trilogy planned and a spinoff already in the works with Christopher McQuarrie(Jack Reacher) directing and Tom Hardy circling the lead. Jack Ryan will co-star Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner, and follow the CIA agent's early career working as an analyst in Moscow where he uncovers a terrorist plot to destroy the U.S. economy.
