New photos from RZA's 'The Man with the Iron Fists'
It may not have the same historical subtext of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, but I don't think any other film comes close to matching it as sheer bombastic popcorn entertainment as RZA's The Man with the Iron Fists. He seems to have found the perfect visual style for his kung fu sensibilities, with the film looking like a cross between the vibrant work of Zhang Yimou(House of Flying Daggers) and the slightly imbalanced style of Stephen Chow(Kung Fu Hustle). There's also a touch of Tarantino in there, which one might expect considering their previous collaborations.
A bunch of new photos have been released to give us another taste of what RZA has in store for us. There aren't any gouged out eyes in these shots so by comparison to what we've seen before they're kinda tame. They still give us a look at the incredible roster of talent he's managed to put together, with Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Dave Bautista, Jamie Chung, Cung Le, and Byron Mann. Still no Pam Grier, though. RZA plays a renowned blacksmith who defends his village from an invading force, with Grier as his mother.
The Man with the Iron Fists may be the surprise hit of the season, and you know the soundtrack is going to be killer. I've already got mine on pre-order. Check out the photos below and look for the film to open on November 2nd. [ThePlaylist]
