New trailer for festival darling 'Ginger and Rosa' starring Elle Fanning

Those who were blown away by how suddenly Elle Fanning went from the little girl in Phoebe in Wonderland to the amazingly talented young woman we saw in  We Bought a Zoo might want to hold on to their seats. One of the most talked about films from out of Telluride is Ginger and Rosa, a new coming-of-age drama that pairs Fanning with Alice Englert(the upcoming Beautiful Creatures) in the story of two best friends finding their way through turbulent 1960s Britain.

With the film a part of Toronto's slate tonight, a new trailer has been released and it looks like a bold, mature step for Fanning that could set her on the path to awards consideration. Jazzy, vibrant, and full of life and energy, it looks like a total departure for director Sally Potter. Potter's one of the more experimental filmmakers out there with her last film, Rage, having been shot mostly on a cell phone. Her previous work before that, the Joan Allen-led Yes, had a rhythmic, rhyming dialogue structure that was sortof an interesting failure.

Ginger and Rosa features a strong supporting cast with Christina Hendricks, Annette Bening, Oliver Platt, Alessandro Nivola, Jodhi May, and Timothy Spall. Opening in the U.K. on October 19th, there's no U.S. distribution at this point. I'm guessing that will be changing very soon. Check out the trailer below...[TheGuardian via ThePlaylist]
